This beautiful MM2 is a retired breeder from our breeding program in Florida. We do not know her age and we do not have a complete history on her. We know she is old and arthritic. After her mate died 3 years ago, we have tried twice to re-pair her. Unfortunately, cockatoos can be very intense during breeding season and because of her arthritis, she could not quickly evade the pursuit of a feisty male. For her safety, we have made the decision not to re-pair her and put her in danger of being chased and injured by a male. She is lightly plucked but her feathers have grown back quite nicely since arriving here in Chicago. All birds deserve companionship. Because it is too dangerous to pair her with another MM2 (we do not have any extra females for her to befriend) we are hoping to find her a loving human companion. She is nervous but is surprisingly tame for being a breeder…probably because we spoiled her like crazy down in Florida! She loves her treats and gets excited when you chat with her.
